How I Chose To Go To RMHS
I hadn't planned to go to RMHS at first... it was a last minute decision by my parents. In middle school, my parents wanted me to go to Santa Clara High School, mainly because my older siblings went there when they were my age. Of course I was opposed to this, since I had gone to a private school from first through eighth grade. I was mostly tired of having to wear uniforms everyday which kept me from expressing my self through clothing. What's the point of having nice clothes if you can't wear them five days out of the week, right? After a while, I felt as if their decision would not change so I became accustomed to the thought of going to a private school for another four years of my life. It wasn't until towards the end of the eighth grade that I started wanting to go to a public high school again. I started trying to convince my mom that a public school would be better for me. I told her that there would be less bills to pay every month, and I got my sister to convince her to look up info about public high schools in the district and see how they stack up compared to Santa Clara HS. Eventually, she changed her mind and decided to sign me up for a public high school. We decided that I will go to Oxnard High School. Unfortunately, we figured out too late that we had to fill out a district transfer sheet, since I live in the district for Pacifica High School. We filled out all the forms, but it was too late, for all the spots for the school were filled. I definitely didn't want to go to PHS, so we chose Rio Mesa High School. This is how I got where I am today!
